Providence College was second at last year's NCAA meet.  They won the Big East conference and Northeast Region Meets.  This year they have followed a similar pattern and hope to take the next step by winning the region again and take the next step of winning the NCAA meet.

#2 Providence came into the season as a favorite and because of their depth they have rested some of their runners.  Their top three have challenged to win titles all year long.  Unfortunately they will face the strong individual favorite in this race and the next, Dartmouth's Abbey D'Agostino.  She leads #12 Dartmouth with #19 Syracuse, #23 Cornell and #27 Harvard as strong contenders to get at-large bids if not the other automatic bid.

Seniors Emily Sisson and Laura Nagel are joined by sophomore Sarah Mary Collins to lead the Friars for their chases of team and individual titles.  This group of four should be far ahead of the rest and will likely finish in the top ten at the NCAA meet.

The Northeast region men's competition will feature perennial power Iona against upstart pack running Columbia, winner of the Notre Dame Invitational.  Not far back should be ACC champion #14 Syracuse, #21 Providence, and #26 Dartmouth.

Harvard's Maksim Korolev ran very well at Wisconsin Adidas and almost caught winner Kemoy Campbell of Arkansas.  With his breakout year he is a solid favorite.
